(NASDAQ: MDB) today announced MongoDB 9.0, the best version of MongoDB ever built, and Atlas Infinite, the largest architectural innovation to MongoDB Atlas since its inception in 2016, at its Investor Day at the Nasdaq MarketSite in New York City. MongoDB 9.0 is the next-generation engine underpinning MongoDB Atlas, the company's fully-managed cloud data platform, Enterprise Advanced, and Community Edition, delivering superior performance wherever a customer's data lives. Atlas Infinite extends that foundation with the elasticity modern applications and AI agents demand, making MongoDB the intelligent data platform for the AI era.

Enterprises face two distinct constraints as AI adoption increases: databases that cannot keep pace with rising performance and security requirements, and infrastructure that can't scale to match them. MongoDB already handles some of the industry's most demanding mission-critical workloads. 9.0 raises that bar again on performance and security. MongoDB 9.0: The Best Version of MongoDB Ever

Generally available today, MongoDB 9.0, the best-performing version of the world's most popular document database, strengthens the foundation customers already run on, with major gains in performance, security, and scalability.

Performance and scale. AI agents and modern applications increasingly generate more data and spikier, harder-to-predict traffic. That puts direct pressure on infrastructure costs and application responsiveness. Combined with the price-performance gains of Atlas Gen2 compute, MongoDB 9.0 delivers better performance at a better cost, with:

Security. Regulated industries need to secure sensitive data without losing the ability to search and use it. MongoDB 9.0 expands industry-first Queryable Encryption with support for prefix, suffix, and substring searches on encrypted data, allowing organizations to query sensitive information without ever decrypting it. Expanded private networking capabilities make it easier to deploy MongoDB Atlas securely across complex enterprise environments.

Resilience and Observability. Traffic spikes and operational disruptions can take critical applications down at the worst possible moment. Intelligent Workload Management automatically protects database clusters when they are overloaded with requests and ensures short-running operations continue even when demand is unpredictable. Enhanced backup, restore, and recovery capabilities help organizations maintain application availability and speed recovery when disruptions occur. MongoDB 9.0 also expands observability with enhanced OpenTelemetry support, providing deeper visibility into application and database performance.

Atlas Infinite: From prototype to petabyte

Development and demand keep accelerating, and AI agents are amplifying that trend. Traffic spikes without warning too, from a fintech transaction surge to a viral product launch. Atlas Infinite, now available in Public Preview, is MongoDB Atlas's largest architectural innovation ever. It separates compute from storage so each can scale independently, giving any workload, agentic or not, the elasticity, responsiveness, and retrieval accuracy they demand on real-time operational data.

Extreme elasticity, zero waste. Thousands of AI agents can flood an enterprise's system with reads and writes in an instant. Atlas Infinite absorbs these spikes with no guesswork, scaling on an organization's terms, when it needs more performance, not when it runs out of room. PicPay, a Brazilian fintech company, put that to the test, sustaining 4x its normal peak traffic for two hours on Atlas Infinite with zero failures.

Peak performance. Internal tests using MongoDB 9.0 show Atlas Infinite provides 189% more throughput per dollar than Atlas Core. Icon Solutions is using those performance gains to drive growth, processing up to 55% more transactions per second on Atlas Infinite, with zero application changes.

MongoDB is renaming its current Atlas offering to Atlas Core. Atlas Core and Atlas Infinite are now two deployment options within the Atlas platform, and customers can use one or both depending on the types of workloads they're dealing with. Adopting Atlas Infinite requires no application code changes, no new system to learn, and no disruptive migration. It runs on the same drivers, APIs, and operational tooling Atlas customers already use today, with the same security posture, controls, and compliance certifications as Atlas Core. Atlas Infinite also introduces a new pricing model tied to actual compute and storage consumption, so customers pay for the capacity they use rather than the capacity they provision for peak demand.
